Huntstile Organic Farm wedding | Simon & Katie

This weekend saw me travel down to Taunton in Somerset for the wedding of Simon & Katie as a result of my involvement with the Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Charity. Simon is an officer with the 1st Battalion with the Royal Anglians and a few months ago he was seriously injured in Afghanistan as a result of an explosion from an IED which occurred in Helmand province. At the time of the incident the company were part of the Household Cavalry Regiment Battle Group and they were on an operation inserted deep into Taliban territory, attacking the insurgents where they least expected it.

Simon was flown back to the UK and spent some time at Selly Oak hospital in Birmingham before commencing some intensive rehabilitation at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Unit at Headley Court in Surrey. As you can imagine the wedding was full of emotion as family, friends and colleagues gathered at Huntstile Organic Farm in the rolling Somerset countryside to celebrate the nuptials and everyone had a fantastic time.

I would just like to take this opportunity to show my appreciation to some people and organisations who have provided support for this wedding. Firstly, Simon Revill of Simon Revill Photography for travelling all the way from Derbyshire to help me out on the day, his assistance was invaluable. I would also like to thank Lee and Lisa from SIM2000 Imaging Ltd for agreeing to supply one of their stunning wedding albums free of charge and Lee from ISL Photographic Services for supplying a large canvas. Your contributions have been very generous and I know Simon and Katie are very grateful.

Finally, I’d just like to say what a remarkable man Simon is. He has been through a very tough and trying period recently but his attitude remains extremely positive, in my personal opinion he is one of the most inspirational individuals I have met in a long time and I would like to thank him and his colleagues for the hardships they endure as they perform their duties with courage and professionalism.

Simon and Katie, all the very best for the future.

Parklands Quendon Hall wedding | Amanda & Graham

Great weather, sumptuous venue and a fab couple couple – what more could a wedding photographer ask for! Yesterday saw me at Parklands Quendon Hall in Essex for Amanda and Graham’s nuptials. The blisteringly hot day was enjoyed by many friends and family some of whom had travelled a long way for the big day. Amanda looked stunning in her blue dress, Graham was every inch the dapper gentleman and the bridesmaids were very elegant. There was plenty of fun and games just prior to the speeches as every table had to sing a song from a country that been pre-chosen for them, this was accompanied by various props and fancy dress items and caused great hilarity. The speeches were very emotional and at one point I don’t think there was dry eye in the house.

I must say a big thank you to Simon from Simon Revill Photography who is a fellow ISPWP member, he travelled down from Derbyshire to be the second shooter on this one and his help and commitment was appreciated by everyone.

Wedding Photo of the Year 2009 | Results!

Firstly, I’d just like to thank everyone who has taken the time to vote in my Wedding Photo of the Year competition, it started out just as a bit of fun to liven up a dull January and with around 200 votes it was much more popular than I imagined.

Voting was fierce for a while with two images getting a lot of comments but the eventual winner was the shot of Simon and Jenny being showered in confetti and I am sure you will agree that even if you didn’t vote for them they are worthy winners. Simon and Jenny were married in June at St Mary’s Church in Ashwell, Hertfordshire where Simon is the Rector. It was a very relaxed, fun day and Jenny played a few numbers with the brass band (in her wedding dress!) on the lawn of the Georgian rectory next door to the church. As their wedding took place before my blog went live I have included a few more images from the day.

Claudine & Maurizio | Tewin Bury Farm wedding

Claudine and Maurizio live in my village and I was fortunate enough to be asked to be their wedding photographer back in September. The ceremony was at the Church of St Andrew and St Mary in Watton at Stone and was followed by a reception at Tewin Bury Farm Hotel where yet again the weather was bright, sunny and warm. Everyone had a fantastic time at this very relaxed wedding and there was hardly a dry eye in the house following the speeches. These are just a few shots from the day.

Paul & Anna got married! | Elmers Court Hotel wedding

Paul and Anna were married a couple of weeks ago in the New Forest in Hampshire. The service was very relaxed and was followed by a reception at the Elmers Court Hotel in Lymington and fun, fun, fun was the order of the day. Everybody had a great time, there was a lot of laughter and Paul and Anna were happy to let me do my stuff and document what was a great wedding.

Helen & David’s wedding | Hanbury Manor

Following some pretty terrible squalls the weather could not have been better for Helen and David’s wedding at Hanbury Manor in Hertfordshire and the conditions made it ideal for their wedding photography. It was a very relaxed and fun day with their children acting as bridemaids and ushers and everyone had a fantastic time, here are a few images including some of Helen’s dress which was absolutely beautiful.

I had the pleasure of being Mel and Dan’s wedding photographer in August and it was an absolute hoot! They live in Brisbane, Australia but because Dan is originally from the area they decided to get married over here. All the booking was done over the internet and I finally got the chance to meet them about two weeks prior to the wedding which and reception which was held at Crondon Park Golf & Country Club, there was quite a large contingent of our antipodean cousins who made the long journey and the day was very relaxed with lots of laughter.

These are just a few shots from the wedding of Danielle & James which took place during the summer. A lovely service in Much Hadham was followed by a great reception at James’ parents house where the guests were able to enjoy the exquisite gardens.

Jo and David – some images from their wedding in Ireland

Back in May I was fortunate enough to shoot Jo and David wedding at Castle Durrow in Ireland. This was my first trip to Ireland and Jo and David had chosen me following a recommendation from an earlier wedding. We had a great weekend with plenty of laughs and even had time to sample a pint or two of Guiness!
